Gravitational waves are disturbances or ripples in the curvature of spacetime, generated by accelerated masses, that propagate as waves outward from their source at the speed of light.
Gravity Waves - one of the original works generated during preparations for the live performance.
I have always been fascinated by gravitational waves. As something so mighty and ubiquitous, at the same time nearly untouchable and undetectable. Something that turns its biggest weakness into its greatest strength (due to the fault of the coupling of gravity to matter, gravitational waves experience minimal absorption or scattering, even as they travel over astronomical distances).
The distortion of my body that I`m unaware of now could be the consequence of the birth of the new supernova or collapsing black hole. Maybe even the trail of the big bang. These waves made me not only a witness but participant in this grand theater.
Besides the vision, this work has an interesting story associated with it. Originally it was minted on the Pustota platform. It was part of the UMWELT hybrid exhibition I hosted online/offline in Shanghai. My good friend Alex Dreyer acquired this work. The person who dedicated a big part of his life tries to explore uncertainty and conceptualize it in words. Unfortunately, the team behind the Pustota platform failed to deliver the service they promised. So, all the work was taken down from there and got lost at the chain (they are still in my wallet, but pretty useless contract and lost data). So I minted this work again and transferred it to the legitimate owner. I hope Alex enjoys this work, and it will inspire him in his writing.
